Fire Escapes
Unit 11, Denholme Business Centre, Halifax Road, Denholme, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD13 4EN
Fire escape treads fitted with yellow grit anti-slip nosings, photographed looking down the flight. A small detail that fire risk assessors increasingly expect to see, and one that makes a genuine difference in frost.
The nosing does two things at once. The grit surface gives grip on the part of the tread that takes the weight as somebody descends, and the yellow gives a strong visual edge so each step reads clearly — which matters in poor light, in smoke, and to anyone whose eyesight is not what it was.
Nosings can be added to an existing staircase. If your escape stair has been picked up on a fire risk assessment for slip resistance or step definition, that is often the entire fix, and it is a fraction of the cost of replacing the flight.
